Male Laser Hair Removal Cost

By

Good news, people! Hair removal by laser isn't just for the girls and women anymore. Nowadays, it's perfectly acceptable for men to have their body hair removed by laser. In the mid nineties, the laser treatment has gone commercial and since then it has gained a lot of steam.

Back in those days, prices were still very high and not many could afford to have it done. But these days, the price tag has come down considerably. It's not just for the rich and wealthy anymore. Just about everybody can afford to have it done. And not only has the treatment become cheaper. The results have gotten better and the nummer of laser hair removal side effects has drastically come down as well.

The laser treatment is now the top non-surgical cosmetic procedure for people under the age of 35. This goes for both men and women. The laser treatment works by targetting the melanin in the hair follicles beneath the skin's surface. This melanin is a so-called chromophore. A chromophore is an organic particle that has a color. Colored things by nature absorb heat. It's this property of chromophores that is exploited by the laser to selectively and non-invasively destroy hair follicles.

The procedure of removing hair in males has become associated with athletes such as swimmers, bodybuilders and cyclists. They feel that their body hair can put limits on their performances, so they have a real benefit to be had from getting rid of their unwanted body hair.

Another and more simpler reason to pursue male laser hair removal, is because many women don't find it attractive anymore. The days of hairy chests are over, nothing more than a relic of the past. For a male, having his body hair removed by laser, can increase his sexual confidence with women.

Male Laser Hair Removal Cost

So what about the cost of laser hair removal? The price ranges for having your body hair removed will vary from one clinic to another. It's possible that you'll have to pay much more in one city or state than another. People have been known to travel great distances in order to save a lot of money on laser hair removal procedures.

The price you will have to pay also depends on the body area that you need to have treated. The larger the body area, the more you will have to pay. It makes a lot of difference whether you want to have your upper lip treated, or your entire back. The back is notoriously expensive when it comes to laser hair removal treatment. This is because it is such a large area to treat.

The thickness of your hairs also plays a role in the cost. It costs the doctor much more effort to zap away the thick hairs than the thin hairs. Thick hairs usually take more than oen laser pulse in order to be destroyed. If all your hairs are thick and need 2 or 3 laser pulses, then this makes one treatment 2 to 3 times longer than it would have been if you had had thin hair. This drives up the cost somewhat.

Then there is the denseness of your hair. If your hair is dense, then you will again need more laser pulses to cover the same area than if the hairs were not so dense. More laser pulses again mean lengthier treatments. And I'm sure you'll understand, this reflects in the price.

For one single treatment of the male back, you can realistically expect to pay no less than $500, but no more than $800 per treatment. Most often, you will require multiple treatments, because not all hair follicles can be destroyed in just one go. This can rack up total cost to around $2500. But you can get a discount if you pay up front for multiple treatments.

The back is the most expensive part of the male body to treat. So luckily, other body parts will almost always be cheaper to treat than the back!
