Laser Teeth Whitening Cost
There are so many teeth whitening products available on the market these days. Every manufacturer wants you to believe that their product is the best. The types of products you can buy range from toothpastes to mouthwashes and from whitening strip systems to whitening tray systems. And what about all the teeth whitening clinics that are now offering this treatment en masse. I haven't even mentioned all the regular dentists who now offer teeth whitening as a service on the side.
When you let a dentist perform the teeth whitening treatment for you, odds are he's going to be using a laser during your whitening session. A lot of people are asking themselves exactly what the laser does. Many fear that the laser might accidentily burn them or melt their their teeth. But don't worry, it's not the laser itself that's responsible for the whitening process.
The actual whitening is accomplished with a gel that is applied to your teeth. The gel contains carbamide peroxide. The carbamide peroxide will release hydrogen peroxide when it comes into contact with the moist environment of your teeth. It's the hydrogen peroxide that does the actual teeth whitening. It accomplishes this by penetrating your teeth's enamel and breaking down the colored and stained molecules that have piled up in your enamel over the years.
The laser is simply used to speed up the chemical reaction. Carbamide peroxide won't release its hydrogen peroxide quick enough unless a laser is used to accelerate it. When the laser is used, the chemical reaction goes fast enough that it will make your teeth around 10 shades whiter in less than an hour.
Laser Teeth Whitening Cost
The cost of laser teeth whitening is not a low one. But it's not outrageously expensive either. One single session will cost you $150 at the very least and $750 at the very most. The $150 figure is the low end. I haven't seen any whitening treatments cheaper than this, personally.
If you ever run into a clinic that has the guts to charge you more than $750, it's time to start running. It really doesn't need to cost you any more than that. Unless ofcourse your teeth are so horribly discolored that you will need multiple treatments. This doesn't happen quite often, but on some occasions it will be necessary. On average, a person will want to return to the dentist every few years for a touch-up teeth whitening session.
