Technology is getting better with every passing year. There are now more options available to enhance your cosmetic appearance than there have ever been. Every single time a new cosmetic surgery type becomes available, the media dives right on top of it and all of a sudden... everybody wants to get it done. Whatever 'it' is! In this case, we're talking about laser hair removal surgery.

Lots of people are having it done these days. There are a lot of success stories, but also some botched laser hair removal stories if you look good enough. Despite the fact that the media bombards us with advertisements that tell us how great and fantastic the treatment and its results are, there will always be questions about the safety of the procedure. Are there risks, dangers or side effects?

And rightfully so. With any type of surgery, things can go wrong. Sure, most people will get results that are very pleasing to them. But that doesn't guarantee you will get good results as well. The advertisement people have commercial interests and are heavily biased. In the end, they just want you to cough up money for a laser hair removal treatment. The only reason they want you to be happy with the results, is so that you won't make a ruckus and give them bad mouth to mouth advertisement.

Laser Hair Removal Safety

With laser hair removal treatment, a laser is pointed at the skin to burn away the hair follicles lying underneath. When the laser is pointed at the follicle long enough, the laser will penetrate through the skin and hit the hair follicle. Once the laser reaches the hair follicle, the tissue's color will absorb the laser's energy and it will be released as heat. The heat destroys the hair follicle and this rids you permanently of your unwanted body hair. A few hairs may or may not grow back. In this case, you might need another treatment.

If you have sensitive, irritable skin, you might want to mention this to the performing doctor. The laser's heat might cause you great discomfort and can seriously damage your skin. You can even get wounded. The wounds can lead to infections and this in turn can cause scarring. Skin problems can really get out of hand with a laser treatment like this. You may get burnt or blistered if the performing doctor is hot trained well in the noble art of laser hair removal surgery.

The reaction that your skin will have to laser hair removal, is the same it gives you when you are trying to get a tan and you overdo it just a little bit. When you are sun burnt, your skin becomes red, irritated, sensitive and blistered.

The color of your skin is the best predictor of the laser hair removal side effects you might suffer. With dark skin, the surgery might be less effective and this can lead to you coming back for multiple treatments. The more treatments you have, the more risk there is of things going wrong. Every single treatment is an attack on your skin and this increases the risk of complications.

A pre-treatment diagnostic will determine what type of laser will be the best for you. This maximizes your chances of getting optimal results with as few complications and side effects as possible!

Of all the methods that are available today to remove your unwanted body hair, laser hair removal surgery is the one that particularly stands out. It's fast, easy and gives you near instant, near permanent results. It sure beats creams and electrolysis! If you can afford laser hair removal treatment, it's worth looking into it. Just don't ignore the whole safety issue.
