If you have decided you are going to lose weight, then I suggest you lose weight effectively.

There's many ways of losing weight, but only one of those ways is the right one.

You can lose a lot of weight in relatively little time by practically starving yourself. This will result in a lot of weight loss in a few days, but the weight will most likely come back soon enough.

The weight you will lose on crash diet does not all come from body fat. But this is exactly where you do want it to come from! You will also lose valuable muscle tissue and your fluid levels will drop, causing dehydration.

The weight loss you then see on your scale is an illusion. It's not meaningful weight loss at all.

Effective weight loss is when the weight you have lost came from your body fat. At least most of it, that is.

When you go on a crash diet, your body's metabolism grinds to a screeching halt almost instantly. It becomes impossible to burn any more fat, since your body will desperately hold on to every single calorie.

It is your body's defense system against too much weight loss in too much time.

The most effective way of shedding those pounds, is by creating a much smaller calorie deficit per day. You may never create a calorie deficit bigger than 500 per day.

If you do, your body will start working against you. All your weight loss attempts will be futile!

Effective Weight Loss

If you're going to lose weight effectively, the first thing you need to get in order is your diet.

A healthy weight loss diet has all the necessary proteins, carbohydrates and fatty acids that your body uses to function normally.

You need to control your diet and your lifestyle. Watch what you eat and expend more energy than you consume. It is a very simple mechanism that works essentially the same for everybody.

Most people have diets that simply contain too many carbohydrates. Carbohydrates give your body energy. But when you take in too much energy, your body stores this as reserves.

This means you will gain body fat.

Now don't even think about cutting carbs out of your diet completely. There is this stubborn idea in society that low carb diets are the way to go when you want to burn fat and keep your body from storing new fat reserves in place of the ones that have been used up.

You still need carbs to function normally in your daily life. If you take away the energy supplier from your diet, you're going to crash & burn in no time.

These diets fail time after time.

You shouldn't be thinking of weight loss diets as 'diets' anyway. Diets are only temporary and we're looking for a long term, permanent weight loss solution here!

You need to change your dietary lifestyle!

Your eating habits simply need to change permanently. The slim body you are after will surely follow.

How To Lose Weight Effectively

Besides a good diet, you need something else to keep you going. I'm referring to the right mindset. You need to have good weight loss motivation!

You can do this, for example, by taking before and after pictures. Before you start your fat burning marathon, take a photo of your body and make sure you write down the date somewhere.

Stick to your diet plan and your exercise program religiously, and look forward to seeing results in the near future.

After a week, or maybe two, take another pictures. Now compare with the picture taken before you changed your eating habits and you took up exercise.

You will spot a difference. I guarantee you.

What also helps a lot, is joining a support group for overweight people. This gives you the feeling that you're not alone. Also, you create some social pressure for yourself.

After all, you'll probably tell people that you're going to try and get some results.

Once other people have heard you say this, you kinda have to!

You can share your stories and experiences with others. You can become inspired because of other people's successes. Perhaps you will be a success story yourself, in which case you'll be inspiring other people.

Hundreds of heads know more than just one. Forums and support groups are excellent sources of hands on information, generated directly from people's real life experience.

Weight Loss Exercises

Once you are on a good weight loss diet, it's time to select the right weight loss exercises for yourself.

You may prefer resistance training (weight lifting), or you may prefer cardio training (jogging, running)...

I heavily suggest you do a combination of both, because both have their own advantages and will help you get results in their own ways.

The resistance training will cause you grow muscle, or at least maintain your current muscle levels. This is important because you'll need those muscles to burn your fat.

By losing a few pounds of muscle, you will be burning less energy throughout the day. We're talking about anywhere between 50-300 calories here. This loss will make it more difficult for you to achieve your daily calorie deficit.

By lifting weights, you are creating the need for your body to maintain the muscles. The weight you will lose will more likely come from your fat reserves this way.

The cardio training will help to increase your blood circulation, lower your stress, lift up your mood, give you an overal feeling of wellness and increase your metabolism.

I suggest you go to the gym 3 to 4 times per week. Your workout should be anywhere between 45-60 minutes. Spend about as much time lifting weights as you do cardio training.

If you are on a weight loss diet and you exercise this way, you increase your metabolism and protect your muscles from being broken down.

You are sure to burn your way through those nasty body fat reserves in a matter of months.

Try it. You won't be disappointed.
