Cheap Hair Transplant

By James S. Thornton

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure where people donate a strip of hair from the back of their own heads and have it transplanted to some other area where they have lost hair. The hair transplant has been around for a long time now. It was performed as early as many decades ago. back then, the technology was very rough around the edges and the results were always very poor. Since then, the hair transplant procedure has come a long way. The results are much better these days and the recovery time is shorter. Back in the early days, people used to develop a lot of scarring after having a hair transplant done. This still happens today, albeit to a lesser extent.

Even though the prices of hair transplants have come down significantly over the years, the procedure is still not cheap. You can't have a significant amount of work on your head done for only a few hundred or a few thousand bucks. If you want to have a large balding treated, then this is a large amount of work for the staff working at a hair transplant clinic. These types of procedures involve many hours of work performed by many highly trained and qualified professionals. You can easily expect to cough up $10,000 at the very least for a treatment such as this.

Cheap Hair Transplant

So when you're in the market for getting a hair transplant and you want it done cheaply, make sure you keep your eye on the big picture. Everything is relative, so you have to compare prices from one clinic to the next. Let's say you have a talk with a hair transplant consultant and he determines you need 1000 grafts to cover your desired balding area. Now that you've got a target number of grafts, you can begin to start asking around what hair transplant prices all the different clinics are charging. If you talk to a number of clinics and their prices fall in the range of $7,500 to $12,500, then $7,500 is considered to be the cheap hair transplant.

But it's not so much the question of whether you will be able to find the clinic where you can get the cheapest hair transplant surgery. The question really is whether you want to! You see, finding a place where this sort of cutting edge is performed for pennies on the dollar is one thing. But what about the quality? If you are going to get far less results by saving a few thousand dollars, then you really need to be asking yourself if you're making the right choice here. What good is a cheap hair transplant that ends up making you not happy, or worse... miserable. You don't want to be the victim of a botched hair transplant.

It's a good idea to look around the web before you go in for a hair transplant yourself. There are hair communities (mailgroups, forums, etc.) out there that have thousands of members and they're all talking about hair. Many of them have actually had hair transplants. These people are all more than happy enough to talk about their experiences elaborately. They will also tell you where they got their hair transplant, how much they paid for it and what the results are. You're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't make use of this free and detailed information source.
